Raising your metabolism is one of the smartest way to burn fat. A higher metabolism ensures that you’ll be burning more calories when you’re resting, exercising, sleeping, watching TV, reading a book, etc.
Metabolism is the set of physical and chemical reactions that occur in our bodies in order to maintain life.
Here are some ways to increase your metabolism:
1 Do circuit type of training – get into your anaerobic zone – in this zone, you’ll be in Oxygen Debt. Your metabolism is elevated after your workout as your body will be processing waste (lactic acid) and recovering from the activity. (Fitness Bootcamp workouts inclusive)
2 Have more (smaller) meals a day! Eating means the process of digesting will occur, and by doing so, more energy and calories will be burned.
3 Get a certified personal trainer to help you through your fitness and fat loss program.
4 Increase your protein intake – to convert Protein into energy, it requires a complex chemical conversion and this ups the metabolism – takes a max of 30% of the calories you consume to utilise protein in the body.
5 Increase your muscle mass – up your resistance training. (1) Muscles burn more than fat. (2) Your body needs more oxygen after the workout – and research have shown that metabolism is raised 24-48 hours after your workout. Body weight exercises done at slow speeds helps.

6 Drink cold water – your body will have to work harder to raise the temperature of the water to body temperature levels and as such will consume more calories.
7 Go Wholemeal – It is harder to breakdown whole food – more energy and calories are needed as your body must extract and ‘convert’ them into simpler substances.
8 Have healthy fat – helps manufacture hormones and repair cell membranes. this is an anabolic process and require energy.
9 Use your intelligence when eating – Human beings are different than animals. The later is driven by instinct but we’re driven by intelligence. When you want to eat – don’t go at it blindly just because you FEEL like eating. Analyse the costs and benefits of eating, ask yourself whether your body needs it.
